WE can do up to 2000 fit grafts per day.
if a strip does not sound good to you, don't do it. it is old technology in my opinion and leaves you with a linear, permanent strip scar on the back of your head.

Yes, you can do 3000g in 3 days of shaven FIT... this is no problem at all.

we do well over 3000 grafts all the time. you do not need to have a strip procedure. we also do multiple sessions on our patients that push the total graft count over 7000 grafts from the scalp alone. of course body hair allows you to push the graft count even higher.

thanks for the info Dr Cole i was thinking of having a strip to get the HT done and dusted in 1 session but the scar even though small would still be there later in life.

i am considering now a FIT/FUE your practice seems to be one of the best if not thee best.

if i was to say need 3000 would it be best to go to Brussels from uk for 3 days or U.S for 2 sittings would price differ from place to place.

Could you also please tell me what the average FUE grafts/cm2 that your clinic performs? I really dont think Id be happy with 40-50/cm2 that Ive seen mentioned relating to other clinics.

cheers in advance.

“Could you also please tell me what the average FUE grafts/cm2 that your clinic performs? I really dont think Id be happy with 40-50/cm2 that Ive seen mentioned relating to other clinics.”

I suspect you are referencing the “dense packing” that other clinics forcefully advertise. Some clinics even claim to pack 100+ grafts per square. This is a great concept if 1) you know that the patient is a NW 3 and will not EVER progress past a NW 4 and 2) there was any indication that such high densities grow with at least 80% success rate.

Hair loss is progressive and studies to date indicate that yields drop off in some patient with ultra dense packing. Therefore, high density packing is an option and a “tool in the toolbox” but it is not ideal in all patients.

Depending on the level hair loss, the quality of the donor hair, the age of the patient, the abundance of native hairs in the recipient area etc, we tend to place 10-80 grafts per square. Patients need to understand the risks associated with tighter placement. 45-50 grafts/cm2 is typical first pass grafted density, particularly in the frontal area. But like I said, it is variable.

I don’t not know if you will be happy with 40-50 per square. I suspect you will never get a grasp on this if you only look at marketing photos and listen to HT salesmen rhetoric. It may help you to see some patient in person. I do know that if you pay for a lot of grafts and a lot fail to grow you may be unhappy. So the questions becomes, what is the best way to get a great yield? and what are good long AND short term hair restoration strategies for you?

Remember, grafts are man-made. Not all grafts are made the same however. They do not give coverage in and of themselves. The hairs in the grafts give the coverage. “The average #of hairs per unit graft is 1.8 to 2.2 with strip and 2.7 to 3 for FIT.” Regardless of grafted density, hair density is better with FIT.

Our goal is to maximize yield, minimize trauma, and give a result that looks TOTALLY NATURAL. These goals will guide how the treatment plan is devised.

Any photos or further information you can share will be helpful. Thank for posting.

To answer your pricing question:

FIT w/ a shaven donor area is $7/g for the first 1500 and $6/g thereafter in Atlanta and 5 Euro/g in Brussels.

There are about 4 studies to date looking at density and survival.

All four studies conclude the same thing.

If you exceed 20 grafts per square centimeter, your yeild will drop in to a range of 73 to 78%. in other words if you transplant 10 hairs, only 7 will survive at higher densities.

We averaged 45 grafts per square centimeter for years. We felt like our yeilds were very good. However, based on these studies showing a lower yield, we offer patients two options. one is a higher density that may carry a risk of a lower yield or a lower density that may produce a higher yield. With the lower density, a second pass to increase the overall density may be required. We leave the options open to the patient. If you have an advance degreee of hair loss, you probably should not take the risk of a lower yield. you should probably option for a lower density and more than one procedure to obtain the density you desire. Again, we have been very happy with our resutls at a higher density, but these recent studies showing a lower yield with higher densities are important information for patients to have when making decisions regarding the restoration of their hair loss.
