Hi JDC4

You say "...but is it right that i shdnt use minox yet and also will my temples be wiped out by propecia then"

Do you think that taking proscar has a bad effect on the temple area of your hair? I certanly have never heard that and I cant see any reason why it would be detrimental to your hair. Obviously you can 'lose' hair when you come of minox or proscar, but no more than you would have lost anyway.

I would probaly use both proscar & minox if I were in you.

Right, I see so you have heard that if you take proscar then you can get an initial loss of hair through shedding in reaction to the drug, which you never get back after the drug has started to work?

Well I cannot speack for the other posters on this forum, and I'm not an MD, but I certanly didnt see an increce in my own hairloss when I started to take Proscar. (Not much regrowth ether, but certanly no 'shock loss' in reaction to the drug).

This is not a phenomenon I have heard of with regard to proscar. I understand that it works on a hormonal level, by inhiting a chemical reaction in the body to testosterone. Now if that chamical reaction is casuing you to thin, inhubiting that reaction should not cause your hair to shed.

I have had no 'shock loss' with minoxidill ether. I have heard some people say minoxidil can initialy increase hair loss. This is becuse minoxidil is generaly reconed to work as a 'growth stimulent' to the hairs. Now, as at any time some of your hairs are growing, and others are resting (prior to them falling out and growth stariting again) it fuigures that if minoxidil is stimulating your hairs to replace themselves more quickly then for a month or so, you may loose a few more hairs than you may have as the 'resting hairs' will get lost more quickly, but also, presumibly, replaced more quikly too.

Personaly, I woulndt worry about ether drug making you more bald, I think that is quite an unlikely phenomena. As for being disaponted by the amount of hair they regrow well thats another matter!!!!!

PS There have been no other events in your life in the last year that could have contributed to the thnning? Illness or stress perhaps?

Well Proscar & minox do have the most scientific evidence to support their use. Obviously there are doznes of products out there but these two do have a good track record of at least slowing down hairloss. I would say myself they are the bascis of most peoples programs.

Good luck!
