I am 11 days removed from a a recent transplant.

I initially sprayed saline solution for the 1st 3 days instead of shampooing (don't ask). Thereafter, I shampooed only with cold water. Should I have used warm water? Did I hurt my chances of optimim graft re-growth?

I noticed alot of scab fall out with the hair follicle attached. I had alot of scabbing that went away almost immediately after using warm water on day ...

I am 5 months post up and am thinking of getting on Nizoral - should I get the 1% or 2% version. Is there a significant difference? Any suggestions on where to buy this stuff?

I buy Rogain instead of the generic brand that Costco sells (WAY cheaper) called Kirkland's Minoxidil 5%. Does any one know if buying that over Rogain would make a difference or is it really the same stuff?(Damn those marketing people!) ...

Recently I had hair transplant surgery and wanted to know about the risks associated with rubbing the recipient area scabs off.

I started rubbing them after 10 - 11 days. Most rubbed off pretty easily and fell off. Some of them were still attached by the old hair. I ended up gently pulling them off. The scabs came away pretty easily.

at age 33 I had a scape reduction, then 300 grafts, then in 1995 another 400 gratfts, and in Nov 2003 1800 grafts. The recent procedure seems to have shocked my normal hair, seems like I have less coverage especially in the crown. The doctor offered to do 400 for free but he was talking like it may end up shocking additional hair.

Question, what do I do now after 4 procedures and 15,000. Will ...

I asked a surgeon what kind of mortality exists on hair transplants?

He responded that about 5% do not take.

Assuming 1000 follicular grafts, that is 50 grafts will not take. Knowing this why do the surgeons not transplant 1050 for the price of 1000.

About a week to a week and a half after my surgery, a few red and tender bumps formed on my scalp. They look like pimples, but don't seem to have white heads on them yet. It's been 2 weeks now and I'm concerned.

i am often asked, why don't i see as much growth the second or third session as i did the first session. this question generallly pops up between the third to 6th month after the second or third session. It does not resolve until the day a person suddenly says, "wow, i have alot more hair than i used to". this revelation seems to happen almost over night.

hair transplantation results in truama to the hair follicles when they are removed from the donor region. this temporarily sends the follicles into a state of shock. the cells responsible for making a hair shaft cease to produce hair. the hair and the matrix rise up into the mid-dermis. the hairs seem to be growing for a few weeks, but then most of them stop growing.
