Some people have recently been mixing avodart with pure aloe, applying it to the scalp, then rinsing it out after about 10 minutes with mixed success.

Dr. Cole, do you think this is a viable approach, or does the avodart need to be left on the scalp?

Dermaroller safe post-op

I'm about 5 months post-op my second surgery with Dr. Cole. Started minoxidil (Spectral DNC) for the first time ever about 4 weeks ago. I've recently been reading up on the use of needling to aid in minoxidil penetration. The most popular product for this is Dermaroller. My question is about safety,...

Would taking a higher dosage once per week vs. a smaller daily dosage result in a lower potential for side effects, or is it just impossible to say for sure?

Is that .5mg per day of dutasteride or propecia? Since dutasteride has such a long half life, is it really necessary to take it every day? This is actually something I've been trying to figure out of late. Some people are claiming that dut 1-2 times per week spread out is even enough. Is that true?

For the Doctors: Topical Treatments / Options

Doctors, Over the last several months I've started to feel like propecia is losing its effectiveness and started looking into further treatments to help bridge the gap. There's been some talk recently of a treatment known as "Double A", which stands for Aloe/Avodart. In this treatment, one .5mg duta...

Shock Loss - How Long?

I'm curious how long after a procedure where grafts were transplanted into a thinning recipient area could one experience shock loss? How long (if ever), does it usually take for these shocked hairs to grow back. I do realize this is typically on a case-by-case basis, but a few points of reference w...

I guess my question specifically is how to take care of the donor region when there are harvested grafts. For my last procedure (where there were no harvested grafts) I was able to wash the donor area pretty rigorously while caring for the recipient area very delicately. Will I know have to care for...

Dermmatch works wonders on thinning hair, but can't really be used in places where there isn't any hair at all. It's worked wonders for me as I have thinning in the crown and behind the hairline.

Donor Harvesting Post-Op

I'm slotted to have donor harvesting performed in an upcoming procedure. I don't see much information about post-op care of the donor harvested area. Does the post-op routine change at all when the donor area is being harvested with bht grafts?

Thanks!

Dermatch Post-Op

After how many days/weeks is it okay to use Dermatch after FIT surgery in either the donor area or the recipient area? Are there any things to take into consideration when applying to avoid damaging the grafts?

Forhair, I'm coming in for a procedure at the end of March. Do you guys have the haircycle products in house as part of the post-surgery kit, or should I order it ahead of time on my own? I was in last year for a procedure and bought a post-op kit that included tricomin, gel, etc. Is the haircycle k...

Donor Harvesting

I was wondering in particular how much donor re-population is necessary to create the "illusion" of a pristine donor area. The reason that I ask is that at the end my next procedure, I will have extracted a total of 4500 grafts from my donor area. I'm not planning on having 4500 grafts repopulated i...
