New tools

We have incorporated two new tools for our FIT method of hair restoration surgery. One improves our result from body hair. Our body hair transection rate is less than 5% in almost all cases. many times it is less than 3%. We find the percentage of hairs in telogen on the body averages about 50%. Thi...

The theory behind 41% has to do the the percolation theory. in other words, if you do not want light to percolate through to the sclap, thus reflecting two colors (the color of your hair and the color of your skin) you must occupy 41% of the surface area. in theory, you could take a single hair, wra...

one might try treating areas of newly imlanted body hairs with rogaine to stimulate anagen. about 50% of body hairs are in telogen at the time of harvesting. minoxidil or rogaine (regain in europe) might improve the initial yeild in the treatment of hair loss with hair transplant or hair restoration...

you are a remarkably astute individual for your 24 years of life. you have penciled the hair restoration industry fairly accurately. there are only two consumer advocates out there. one is pat hennessey and the other is spencer kobren. Both require payment for their recommendation. Neither does an o...

I met dr. Woods and Dr. Campbell in Australia last February. I found both of them to have a significant interest in the patient first. I was interested in doing something with them, but they were concerned about priracy of their technique. I can't blame them for this. They were interested in working...

Your scar is very wide and low. The location is most likely why it is so wide although you might form a wider scar even if you go higher. i think the scar is the primary reason to consider FUE or FIT at this time Vs. Strip. Regarding repair of your hairline: i do not feel you absolutely need to have...

make sure you do not stop the rogaine. if you stop it, you may have a tremendous shedding 3 months to 5 months after you stop it. you will think this is shock loss, but it is not. shock loss starts 3 weeks after surgery and is done after 6 weeks. Rogaine cesstation loss begins after 3 months. if you...

we have one of two hairs growing now. i plan to do a new trial using scalp hair. the initial trial was with leg hair. leg hair can take up to one year to grow so we still have plenty of time to wait on the second hair to grow.

placement of hair on the thigh is not a good idea. we know that the recipient area controls things such as length, rate of growth, and the anagen cycle duration. this study must be carried out on a bare scalp.

excellent protocol, hair tech. with our new image plus software, we should be able to evaluate these paramaters very closely. we will need a person with an essetially bald scalp to insure the best working area.

Re: Small Red Bumps After hair transplant Surgery

my belief is that you had multiple retained hair fragments that caused your bumps. it is ashame that you did not get them out in a more timely fashion. bumps can persist up to 6 months after a procedure and often conincide with the growth of new hair. having 2 pimples at this late stage (4 months af...

Re: post op questions

activity does not affect the grafted area as much as it does the donor area. with fit and fue you can resume a more active life style immediately. with strip surgery you need to avoid heavy exertional and contact sport activity due to the risks to the donor area. the sutures in the donor area hold t...

how long until my hair grows

this is the most common question we get. hair transplantation results in truama to the hair follicles when they are removed from the donor region. this temporarily sends the follicles into a state of shock. the cells responsible for making a hair shaft cease to produce hair. the hair and the matrix ...

re:eye brows and hair transplant

women and men with eyebrow loss should always check their thyroid function prior to cosidering restoration of the eyebrows. both a hyperactive and hypoactive thyroid can cause loss of the eyebrow hairs.
