Re: Why not treat all of a patient's hair with PRP?

My appointment is next week and I'm still curious about this. The guy I spoke to on the phone determined how much PRP would be necessary based on the work I'm having done, but I'm still curious whether treating all of my hair would potentially make it all healthier looking, etc and help me hang onto...

Re: Preparing for a body hair trial run

For the benefit of forum readers who have a similar question, although I don't know the answer to the question yet, I did find something out that I didn't know: When you're scheduling a HT and you are interested in trying a few body or beard hairs, you have to let them know so they will schedule ext...

Preparing for a body hair trial run

I have an upcoming appointment and I'm interested in having Dr Cole try a few chest hairs to see if they are an option for me in the future. How large a section do I need to pre-shave (per the BHT pre-op instructions)?

Avodart and Propecia increase cancer risk

When visiting my primary care physician last month, she mentioned that she'd recently read that Avodart appears to increase high-grade cancer risk. I decided I'd go back to Propecia, but have since discovered that it, too, carries the same risk. I'm curious what Dr Cole's take is on this recent info...

Improvements seen in BH donor areas treated with PRP/Acell?

I'm fascinated by the improvements being seen with the use of PRP and Acell. Like the traditional donor area, are donor sites from the "body hair transplant" donor areas also healing more pristinely (fewer white spots) and seeing some occasional regrowth?

Why not treat all of a patient's hair with PRP?

In the next few months, I plan on getting a HT with PRP and Acell. If PRP causes hair to look healthier and thicker, why not treat ALL of a patient's hair (including the sides) with PRP to improve their hair's overall appearance? The reason I have been considering this is that I stopped using Avodar...

Power Extractor benefits?

What are the benefits of Dr Cole's new power extractor? 1. Anyone who has had a HT knows what a time-consuming process it is for the doctor, which is why costs have had to be on the high side when compared to other cosmetic procedures. The extractor, one would think, will affect that equation. Will ...

But ISN'T there something special about Wassup's situation?

Like most guys, I'm amazed at Wassup's results (such a great result couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, btw). The thing is, ISN'T there something about his hair density or hair type that allowed this result in him but not in the average guy? Wassup's result is almost legendary on the internet hai...

My hopes for Acell have always been more modest than a lot of folks who've commented on various forums: 1. I hoped that it would allow my current donor scars to be cut out and the area to heal with no (or virtually no) scars. 2. I hoped that it would cause the recipient area to heal more quickly and...

Question for patients: How'd you hide redness during recovry

I have a question for former patients: How did you hide the several weeks of obvious pinkness after your procedure? I assume the typical answer will be "I wore a hat", but 1. Didn't the sudden daily wearing of a hat draw a lot of attention/comments? 2. What about those of you who work in jobs that d...

Breaking up minigrafts

I have minigrafts (4 to 6 hairs each, I think) hidden behind much better Dr Cole work :D , and I am interested in breaking them up and, if necessary, re-angling them. When this sort of dissection is done, is the minigraft removed, divided, and then one of the units put back in the same site it was r...

Questions about camouflaging strip scars

I’m trying to understand as much as possible about strip scar camouflaging, since I have three scars I want Dr Cole to hide starting early next year. This website has been very informative. I now understand (correct me if I’m wrong) that transplanting hair into the scar not only helps hide it be...

Questions

For guys like me who have strip scars that would be revealed if the head is shaved, it's good to know it isn't absolutely necessary to shave the head. What, if any, difference is there in the cost of an unshaved procedure vs. a shaved procedure? I have three strip scars. They aren't wide, but they w...

Effect of anti-androgens on BHT hair

It has been suggested that people who have had BHTs should not use things like Propecia or Avodart anymore, since (it is suggested) anti-androgens may have a negative effect on the tranplanted body hair. Has Dr Cole weighed in on this?

Thanks.

That less-than-ringing endorsement of beard hair is enough to scare me away from using it. I keep hearing about its coarseness, and I always picture that scene from The Fly where Jeff Goldbloom's hair has become so wirey that it can barely be cut! Yikes! I suppose I was thinking that, since my beard...

Yes, Jessica, I'm a research nerd. I've had a few strip surgeries, totaling about 3000 grafts, I think. The last one was actually done by Dr Cole a few years ago, and he did a great job of improving (narrowing, flattening) my main strip scar. He said at the time that I do still have some dono...

Beard Hair as a Source

I haven't heard Dr Cole weigh in on beard hair as a source to pull from. I am only interested in it as a source for filling in my three strip scars. The thickness of beard hair seems to suggest it has a better chance of surviving and giving coverage...but, things aren't always as they seem. :D Dr Co...
