Why doesnt the donor hair transplanted from your neck not fall off? does this mean that DHT does not effect hair follicles on the neck? hence making the hair on your neck different from the hair on top of your head?

I would appreciate it if some one could explain to me.

Hey Sentarli,

Well, nobody really knows why the hair from the neck doesn't fall off. In fact, nobody knows why the hair on top of our heads falls off. If we knew why, hair loss would not be such a problem because we'd have a cure for it.

But to answer your question. The answer is yes, the hair follicles on your neck, legs, arms, ass, etc.. are different from the hair follicles on top of your head. They are "DHT resistent" and are not subject to androgenic alopecia(hairloss due to androgens)

The answer is most likely no. Unless a miracle breakthrough in genetics or a miracle hair loss drug is found, chances are slim that any other "100% effective" treatment besides hair transplant surgery will be available in 4-5 years.

I think that most of us will try to avoid hair transplant surgery as much as they can until one day the pain of hair loss surpasses the fear of surgery. And ever since that moment, we patiently wait and pray for the day to go under the needle and knife in the hope to solve our hair loss problems.

There might be some new methods coming up pretty soon but they will still involve “surgery” in one way or another…

Do they actually have to take the donor skin out with the surgery?? cant they just pluck it out from one side and stick it in the front? I watched a makeover program the other day on TV and I was shocked they way they do the surgery(cutting out the donor skin).

everyone has DHT, some people's hair follicles are more genetically predetermined to be sensative to DHT in certain areas of teh scalp. Its not so much that more DHT is found in baldies.

I highly doubt that any drug that stops hair loss in its traks will be out in the next 10-15 yrs. However, I do believe that hair transplants will be increasingly more effective.

This is true.
The hair that id getting efected from DHT is gentically designed (maybe it's a nature's evolution fault) sensative to DHT The gene is passed from one generation to other with the same pattern.

sentarli, you should learn more about the FIT technique, there is no removal of the skin involved:

Is it true that the bodies imune system seas the hair as a foreign object and attacks it? does this mean that the stonger imune system you have the more likely your hair will fall off?

My dad is bald and he never gets sick he is very resistant to sicknesses so am I. My friend bald as well he is also very stong, then I have friends that havent lost a hair and they get sick very quickly!!
