! SERIOUS DHT inhibitor concert

Hey,

I was wondering if it is possible that Propecia, Proscar, Avodart etc can make a man permanently infertile? Since all of these DHT inhibitors inhibit the concentration of the “MAIN” Male Androgenic Hormone DHT, wouldn’t it lead us to conclude that it would also inhibit male fertility?

What about 5-AR blockers that are present in Propecia, Proscar, Avodart, etc. What about them (DHT blockers) being present in the sperm causing deformation of the embryo or the baby during development in the womb?…(and studies show that they are present if one is taking them!)

Now I know that the ejaculation volume decreases for a men taking DHT blockers. I didn’t mean to ask that. What I was wondering were the permanent effects of DHT blockers taken over a long period of time, let’s say many years, even decades, on male fertility and other body functions?

This is a serious thing that we have to consider since DHT is a major Hormone responsible for a “normal” male body functions. DHT has many other body functions than just thinning of our hair!

I think the short answer is to not worry.

5AR is present in the body where the body has certain male hormones, but 5ar is not those hormones.

Think about it this way. All criminals are human beings, but not all human beings are criminals.

The various drugs you mention inhibit, block 5ar. it does not follow that they will affect your other homones. I dont think it is the case that your testosterone levels do not drop as a result of proscar for example.

Proscar is unsuitable for women as there is a small chance of birth defects in male feoutues. I'm not sure that there are any actual instances of this happening, I suspect that the drug industry is just very cautious about making any risk (However small) very clear to consumers in our litigious world. My dermatologist told me to come of the drug for one month before trying to conceive if thats any help? That would be constant with most people saying that proscar has a life of around 1 month in the body. I cant see how you could have any long term effects after discontinuing the drug.
