Quite agree. London would be great for most people. However, Cyprus is a lot nearer than the US, so it's not too bad really.

I'm hoping to have surgery with Dr Cole. I've only been into the internet for about three years now, and prior to this I would never have known about the advances in hair transplantation, FIT and Dr Cole's work. Previously, I would have been only too pleased to know there was somewhere in the UK where I could have a transplantation. This is especially now that people are noticing that I'm thinning on top even when I avoid going under lighting, trying not to have people standing over me and trying to keep my hair in place in a certain way to conceal this!

I can only say that my the consultant dermatologist I saw at my local hospital was, for the most part, unsympathetic and uninspiring in his attitude. He told me that I was unfortunate in inheriting a gene and that really there was nothing I could do that was acceptable, other than having my hair woven. He told me that hair transplants normally left a patient with red marks where holes had been made, but that there was a centre in Manchester who did this sort of work. Gosh, I felt awful when he just left the room - I was devastated and the tears just came.

No, I don't consider myself as being vain, but, for a woman, her hair is her crowning glory no matter what her age, and I do feel that consultants should inform their patients about all the options - or if they are too busy get one of their staff to do this!! Why didn't he tell me that there were excellent surgeons abroad if I was really determined to have surgery performed by those surgeons with excellent reputations!

I'm now waiting to hear from the clinic after having filled in my form and submitting my photo's.

Wish me luck, but I'm hoping I will not need this!!

Now I've got this 'off my chest' - I can say bye for now, and if I do have surgery with Dr Cole I'll keep you posted.

Yours, Merseysider.

Any news of Dr. Cole carrying out hair transplants /consultations in London or UK? Although I joined in 2005 I have only revisted the forum after an absence yesterday ? asking a seemingly obvious question.

Welcome Back Marc,
Not Yet, we currently have a clinic in Belgium that offers surgeries and consultations, we are working on some more alternatives but bare in mind that when one consider to get the best hair transplant by the best surgeon, distance should not be an obstacle on your goals.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have just been browsing the forum and note some discussion on the Choi method linked to another forum there seems to be some disagreement whether this is a good technique as apparently some of the top surgeons in world do not utilise it, the advocates seem to recommend it in terms of its ability to get many grafts transplanted in one session ...any opinion

the choi implanter was developed in Korea for use on Korean patients. It has been modified in the way it is used by a handful of surgeons. they make the incision sites first. then they use the choi implanter to insert the grafts. the grafts are inserted below the surface of the skin. this results in an orange peel look to the skin with pits all over it. the growth is not very good. the problem with the choi is that you cannot control the depth of the graft placement and limit it to above the surface of the skin or flush with the skin. when you place it below the skin, which occurs all to frequently, the hair yeild is not as good, meaning you get less growing hair, and the skin appearance is ugly and pitted. i do not recomend the use of the choi implanter except in the hands of the koreans who invented it. they are the only ones who appear capable of generating good results with the choi implanter.
