I have been doing some research on HT. I am now planning for a 2 to 3000 FIT but have some questions I'll appreciate to know the answer.

1- How many grafts per session is best.
2- Can large sessions or very dense graft implant produce a strong scarring or defensive reaction so that the redness is very intense and results in large scarring? I ask this because I tend to make red scars first, that later become dark and only after many years return to the original skin color, which is of Spanish descent.
3- Is it better to have many small sessions and low density transplants?
4- Is there a relationship between shock loss and graft transplant density?
5- If I want to increase the density in an area with thinning hair, or an area that was previously transplanted on, does the procedure cause more existing hair loss in that area?

Thanks,

Hope

Hi hope,

It would be best to transplant no more than about 4000 grafts per session. It is better to have multiple smaller sessions of lower density than larger sessions of higher density. On the recipient area, the transplanted grafts must be placed in the “safe zone” so that minimal trauma to the pre-existing hair occurs. There is always a chance that the pre-existing hairs will be lost when density to the area is increased. Previously transplanted hair is less likely to be lost when density to the area is increased.

I hope that my response has provided some guidance for you. Could you rephrase your second question? I could not quite understand exactly what you asked. You may also give us a call if you would like to speak to us via telephone.
