ok..so first off..i wanted to post my questions here because Dr. Cole is someone i'm strongly considering when i decide to get a transplant..and i didnt want to post these questions on other hair loss forums because there are wayyy too many conflicting opinoins on doctors and procedures and EVERYTHING! so I came here...

so here's my deal--i'm 28 years old and am probably a norwood 4 or 5 very bad diffuse in front and top and crown...basically balding throughout... i have enough hair on my scalp to use toppik hair fibers to blend in and create an illusion of a full head of hair...but hairlline is not so good with that...
i wanted to do FIT and BHT..
BUT---my donor hair is thin also...ive just thinned out everywhere...

i havent shaved down the back and sides of my head really short in a while because im afraid of what it may look like because of the thinness..
if i grow my donor hair a bit longer you cant tell its thin.

sooo...im wondering if i should cherry pick with FIT the spots of my donor back and sides that i CAN USE...and place them in the front and top where its more important cosmetically and then shave down the back and FIT FARM ("fill in") the back donor area with the BHT graphs..

Because i assume body hair wont grow long like scalp hair and i would like to keep my donor hair short later on anyway...so the body hair will grow just long enough to make the donor hair appear better when shaved down and also to replenish the donor hair i will be taking out..(does that make sense?)

Bear in mind...i have nice dark chest hair thats quite a few inches long and thick and also arm hair that looks like it would work very well on my scalp (long strands and alot)..

will body hair in the back and sides look weird if i shave it down later...will it grow at a different speed than my regular scalp hair and then look weird? (will i have some hair strands longer than others?)

sorry this is alot...but im really considering this and i would be happy with just 30 percent of my hair back even....anything so i dont have to use so much toppik concealer on my head everyday!!!!

If you send me some pictures, I will give them and your questions to Dr. Cole. He can tell you what your best options are, how to do it, and how many grafts it might take. Jessica@forhair.com

The forums can be confusing, so it is possible that the best way to get information is directly from the doctor. If you donor area is thinned out, not just the top and front of your head, there might be something else going on. Dr. Cole will be able to tell based on your pictures if you need to be tested for hair loss causes other than male pattern baldness.

Fit farming is definitely an option. It sounds like you have a pretty good understanding of the concept. The purpose is to keep the hair thicker, not necessarily longer. It provides coverage by not allowing the scalp to show through as much. Cutting the donor hair short or keeping it long will both look fine after Fit farming as the body hair blends nicely with the scalp hair. It just takes longer for body hair grafts to start growing and offer coverage when compared to scalp hair grafts. It also sounds like you have a good donor source for body hair. Please send a picture of all donor areas that you would like for us to consider.

Dr. Cole can offer you several solutions to your problems and design the best plan for you and your goals. There are risks and benefits to be aware of when considering hair transplant surgery. Having a photo consult can outline possible consequences, answer your questions, and set up a plan of action based on your preferences.

Let me know if I can help further.

Thanks,
Jessica
