Is it best to wait until most of the hair on the top of the head has fallen out before getting a hair transplant done? I'm 23 but my hair is thinning fast, and I really don't want to go through years of baldness while waiting for this treatment.

Ry,

I believe there are a few considerations with respect to this question. Some would say if there is too much potential for loss than no intervention makes sense due to the extent of financial considerations and donor supply. Some others would want to see the patient wait until the hair loss has become more "stable" so that a sense can be had as to the entire course of the hair loss. Today there are medical options that are helpful in slowing the hair loss process. Results from such medical interventions are variable from person to person. With the use of FIT one is often able to "keep up" with their hairloss since FIT in the hands of a skilled surgeon is a "stand-alone" surgery. My advice to you would be to setup a consultation so that your particular situation can be properly accessed.
Regards,

Fit Club

If you are young and have an extensive hair loss, you need to understand the hair loss will progress furthermore. Hair transplant won't stop the progression of your hairs shedding. You can start to take medications for a year or two to see how you respond to it.
That's why we encourage anyone who is seeking hair transplant surgery to commit to medical therapy such as Propecia and/ or Minoxidil 5%, vitamins, hair cycle shampoo, etc...Medications stabilize your hair loss progression.
