Well, first question is, did your weight gain coincide with starting Propecia?
Have you ever tried to lose weight before and been successful?
What is your caloric intake? It is really a matter of caloric intake versus caloric expenditure.

with medications you will find that drug companies perform an initial study and then they don't put out much in regard to side affects. it was only after several years of dispensing vioxx that a second study was done looking for additional indications for the medication. at this study they found that the drug had a link to cardiovascular side affects and subsequently had no choice but to take the drug off the market. for years merck has denied that propecia causes enlargement of the breasts in men or gynecomastia. we know from many reports over the years that this does occur and it resolves when the medication is discontinued.

i have not heard of men complaining of weight gain on propecia that i can recall and it certainly is not one of the side affects listed by merck.

weight gain is due to increased calorie intake and weight loss results from fewer calories taken in than you burn off. it could be that your resting metabolism is declining perhaps naturally or perhaps due to medications. one way to test the theory that propecia is involved would be to stop taking it, stay on the same exercise regimen, and evaluate your weight over time. of course you might also loose hair.

another way would be to simply up the exercise regimen or cut caloric intake.

keep us posted.

yeah, i'd say a healthy diet is a good idea. it's not exactly my favorite past time, but i'm paying more attention to diet these days. i suspect its all the healthy people we have coming to the clinic. they seem to be dedicated to looking their best and stay in great shape. the one thing they cannot control is their hair loss so they come to us to resolve that problem.

Well I lost weight after a started Propecia, but I think its got to do with weight training as I started doing weight training after I started propeica as I didnt need to worry about the extra testosterone from weight training... you just need to do weights believe me it burns a hell of alot of callories...

I have been able to lose some weight from increasing cardio, increasing weight (anaerobic activity) and then just eating a lot of fiber, which keeps one filled up with out a lot of extra calories. I don't believe the propecia is responsible.
