After reading about Avodart here I met with a hair surgeon who said that Avodart is a better choice than Propecia for stopping DHT and therefore hairloss. He said taking two .05 twice a week would be enough. Since Ican get the Adovart cheaper I wondered if I should switch form the Propeia. I have had several surgeries and been taking Propecia for number of years.

I've had better success with avodart although it is expensive. Has anyone out there had good results alternating propecia and advodart or proscar/avodart? THey are both dht inhibitors but finasteride and dutasteride are different drugs right?

To start I would prefer Propecia. Avodart is stronger but with more side effects

Hi Shyla,

We recommend to our male patients to start with Propecia first because Avodart is stronger. Propecia and Avordart may cause side effects.

Some research studies have linked hair loss with the lack of iron, the condition of the skin on the scalp, an excess of the hormone DHT and probably an under active thyroid gland. Natural remedies could be good as a natural treatment to slow hair loss process. Treatments with Saw palmetto, nettle, biotin, B complex, etc..
