Hi,

I have been hearing lately that Propecia minimise the chances of having children. Is this a fact? even if it is a fact does this problem disappear when a person stops taking propecia? I know that one of the side effects is a low sperm count but does it actually do any permenent damage?

where did you see that it reduced sperm counts. i have seen reduced semen volume, but no a reduced sperm count.

there is not documented evidence that propecia impairs one's ablity to have children.

is the reason for the semen volume decreasing because of the prostate size decreasing?

This is a good question. Semen is made of of fluid from the testicles and the prostate in addition to sperm. i do not think anyone was assessed which source is the culprit for a reduced volume. it would be of value to check sperm counts before propecia and after propecia. this would be an intersting study. i suspect that everything goes right back to normal after you stop the propecia, but i have not heard of any studies to support this. i do know that sterility is not one of the listed side affects.
