When is it safe to gently rub the recipient scabs with your finger? I am 5 days post op and the scabs are starting to come loose. Are the recipient hairs safely embedded yet?? Thanks for all of the help!

when can you pull off the scabs? you can work them loose now. just don't be too agressive. get them wet with water or neosporin gel first. then try to lift them off with a fine tooth comb. if you see any bleeding discontinue and try again the next day. as long as there is not bleeding, you are not pulling out any grafts. at the first sign of bleeding, stop and you will not pull out the grafts. the safest day to remove them will be on day 10. after day 10, you will not remove any grafts.

Hello, My scabs starting lifting off on their own about the 5 day mark. What worked for me, when I was in the shower, I would put a finger tip or two on my head and I would push down, like breaking an egg. I did this all over my head. I lightly massaged my head with a few fingers all over as well. I did this after about 10-15 minutes in the shower. Obviously, I only used a cup to put the water on my head. Nothing aggressive with rubbing. By day 7, all my scabs were off and didn't have any bleeding.

thanks for the update and play by play. i've always found moisture to be a great way to loosen scabs. another way to get them looser is to apply neosporin in ointment form. leave it on for several hours and then try to lift the scabs with your finger tips. this along with hair cycle biotin spray is really effective at getting rid of scabs. if you see any bleeding, stop, shampoo the neosporin out and try again the next day.
