CIT is a form of hair transplant that is relatively new and revolutionary in its approach to hair loss treatment. Dr. John Cole pioneered this type of hair transplant surgery beginning about 2002; he was inspired by the FUE hair transplant work of several hair loss physicians: Dr Inaba, Dr. Ray Woods, and Dr. William Rassman. Dr. Cole recognized that there were numerous patients with hair loss who did not want a linear scar on the back of their head, yet they still desired a hair transplant. This observation, plus the many patients who came to him for scar repairs, led Dr. Cole to begin searching for a better way to “harvest” the hair to be used in filling in the balding or thinning areas on top of the head. After much research and development of instruments, the CIT hair transplant procedure was developed in the form that is used today. However, this does not mean that Dr. Cole is sitting back and has given up research and development. He is continually striving to improve his techniques and provide a better way to transplant hair and treat baldness in men, and in women for that matter. CIT involves using the special tool to individually remove each follicular unit (groups of hairs) that is then placed in the balding areas or other areas of hair loss such as eyebrows, temples, and beards. The result is better use of the grafts, the ability to choose which grafts are taken from the back and sides, and no linear scar! When you think of FUE there is CIT and not quite CIT for hair transplant surgery. |
