The Non-Strip Scar Hair Transplant (CIT) PDF Print E-mail

There are many ways to restore your hair or prevent your hair loss. These ways are fully and honestly discussed within this website. We will also introduce you to a new method of hair restoration surgery that offers better potential than standard methods of strip harvesting from the donor region.  Strip involves taking a surgical knife and slicing out a wedge of tissue from the back of your head.  Some doctors remove a wedge that is one inch wide from the back of your head.  They then close this gaping wound with surgical sutures.  When the incision heals, it leaves a linear scar in the back of your head.  This scar typically ranges from 1 mm to 5 mm wide or up to ¼ inch wide and sometimes wider.
The new hair transplant procedure of follicular extraction is called Cole Isolation Technique (CIT) or "FIT- Follicular Isolation Technique" does not leave linear strip scars in the back of your head.

CIT does not leave linear strip scars. It gives you the option to wear a shorter hair style or shave your head if you choose to in the future.   The donor area is naturally thinned out and natural groupings of hair are added to the top of the scalp in the bald or thinning areas.  This procedure is the only stand alone procedure for the treatment of hair loss.  You will never require any procedures to hide or eliminate unwanted scars.  Also, this procedure offers the potential for faster restoration, a greater total donor supply, and denser packing of grafts.
CIT can be used to treat unnatural looking recipient areas from old plug procedures.  We remove one follicular unit or group at a time rather than removing large groups, like the old plugs. Removal of the plugs intact leaves visible scars.  Removal of single follicular groups with CIT hair restoration method leaves no strip scarring.
