BODY HAIR -THE NEW HAIR TRANSPLANT FRONTIER

The Pioneering Of A New Technique-DJ's Progress

Part 1-Grafting the ears and the neck area
This is a very complicated repair case. It exemplifies the complexities associated with some repair cases and it also shows the length of time required to resolve some situations. This photos shows a very successful part of this journey:
Grafting leg hair above the ears, behind the ears, and stomach hair into the neck below the typical donor area.
We will show more photos of his hair line work and scar work in the near future.
The hairy skin above the ears was elevated due to invasive scalp lifting, which left him with, “White Walls”. The temples had many pluggy, multiple hair grafts, misdirected grafts and surgical scars due to the Brandy Scalp lift. The area behind the ears had no hair and scars due to drains that were placed after the Brandy scalp lifts. The back of the scalp was lifted up so that there was no hair in the neck region. The rear donor area was very thin due to lifting, wide strip scars, and over harvesting. There was little natural hair in the back of the head to cover the bald neck area. Most of the good donor area was lifted up onto the top and sides of the scalp. A good portion of the donor area was excised during the lifts and thrown in the trash….. What a waste.
. In an effort to camouflage the unnatural grafted area, a combination of brown and orange tattooing was done to achieve a brown hair skin tone that matched his hair. Unfortunately, the tattoo artist was not truthful and did not tell DJ that this brown tattoo color would eventually turn his skin blue. The entire hair bearing scalp was tattooed blue. There was some chest, abdominal, underarm, pubic, leg, and thigh body hair. There was a limited supply of scalp donor hair that could not be wasted. The caliber of the hair was fortunately medium and the follicular units were huge bundles. These were positives.
In this case we have performed multiple sessions. In May 2003 we began removing grafts from the pluggy, unnatural hair line. We literally had to invent the techniques for this procedure. We will present the other repair areas soon!
At the same time we began moving some softer, single hair grafts into the left frontal hair line where he parts his hair. We also began moving some hair into the rear donor area to add volume. Much of this was from body hair (chest and leg).

These photographs detail the progress in his temples, above the ears, and in the neck region. One of the most impressive results was the growth of the of leg hair above the ears. The leg hair was about 1/2 inch long on the leg, but has grown to 1.5 to 2 inches long above the ears.
It has been a long struggle for DJ. We are exceedingly grateful to him for his patience while we developed the techniques required to improve his situation. He have achieved a tremendous improvement currently. We have fantastic photographs detailing his entire progress on all parts of the scalp including his hair line. We will release all these photographs in a three part segment. Of course he has the capacity to improve further, but the major restructuring has been accomplished. He still has a distance to travel and we look forward to continued progress.
