CIT is Dr. John P. Cole’s proprietary hair transplant technique. CIT is a relatively new procedure that has revolutionized hair loss treatment. Dr. Cole pioneered his method of hair transplant surgery beginning around 2002. He was inspired by the FUE hair transplant work of noted hair loss physicians: Dr. Masumi Inaba, Dr. Ray Woods, and Dr. William Rassman. Dr. Cole recognized that many patients struggling with hair loss desired a hair transplant but did not want the tell-tale linear scar on the back of their head. This observation, plus the many patients who came to him for scar repairs, led Dr. Cole to begin searching for a better way to harvest donor hair. After years of research and the development of precision instruments, the CIT hair transplant procedure became what it is today. However, Dr. Cole is not content to sit back and rest on his accomplishments; he continuously strives to improve his techniques and provide a better way to transplant hair and treat hair loss in men and women.
CIT involves the use of specially designed tools to individually remove each follicular unit (naturally occurring groupings of hair). The follicular units are then artfully placed in balding areas so as to create a natural look as they grow. CIT can also be used to treat other areas of hair loss such as eyebrows, temples, and facial hair. Dr. Cole’s method maximizes the available donor area for harvesting and allows him to “cherry pick” follicular units that will have an optimal yield. Most importantly, CIT will not leave you with an unsightly linear scar on the back of your head.
